BENEFITS OF THE FLIPPED CLASSROOM

BENEFITS OF THE FLIPPED CLASSROOM

First of all, it is important to mention an important person, who works using this technique and who has a lot of experience too. For instance, Jon Bergmann who is one of the pioneers and who began flipping his science classes back in 2017 with his colleague Aaron Sams.

There are nine benefits of the Flipped Classroom:

1. Students get help on difficult task: It encourage students to come to class prepared. Once students are in class they can apply what they have learnt about the video and ask their teacher for help if they didn't  understand anything. For this reason they get less frustration with their homework.

2. The Teacher-Student interaction is enhanced: It promotes more one-to-one time between teacher and student and also increases the amount of time teachers have to spend with each student.

3. It allows for differentiation: Teachers can meet with each student every day give them support in their necessities through personal instructions.

4. It creates an atmosphere of learning: It helps students to be more independent in the learning process. The students are not passive anymore.

5. Students can learn at their paceBecause ‘knowledge acquisition’ now takes place outside the classroom, each student can control it to match their own personal abilities. The students are free to learn in a way that works for them. And if they want to go back and study something again, they can.

6. It helps when students are absent: it used to be that, In a traditional class, if a student missed a lesson, they missed learning something. In flipped learning students engage with a lesson on their own time, and away from school, absence need not detract from them learning the material.

7. It helps when the teacher is absent: Students have instructional videos that oriented them on what they have to do in case the teacher is absent.

8. You don't have to flip every lesson: Flipped classrooom is flexible. Teachers can flip the lesson by making an instructional video related to the content, this lesson can be achieved and students can use it several times.

9. Relationships with the students are betterThe flipped classroom gives more freedom to teachers to decide how much time to spend with each student. Struggling students, great performers, introverted kids, and extroverted ones can get the attention each of them needs.

THE IMPACT OFBLENDED LEARNING

Blended learning has become the latest educational programme to make an impact in today’s classrooms. From schools to universities, it’s being used to bring the digital world and in-class teaching together. Also we have to consider that this system offers many benefits for students.

Blended Learning uses technology to combine in class and out of class learning, that is why cause educational impact for students as a result. As Rachael Hartley, Senior Client Account Director for Education at technology consultancy Cognizant, defines: “While retaining the traditional studentteacher format, it breaks the ‘one size fits all’ model by taking education beyond the physical classroom and allowing students to learn anytime, anywhere.”

With  blended learning teacher and students can play within classrooms, Rachael adds: “It redefines the role of the teacher, offering them more flexible delivery options, depending on the content, subject, and capabilities of the students. This trend means educators can focus on student understanding, rather than the delivery method itself.”
